Functions of tires -Four Major Functions:

Raw materials
Every tire may look similar, but tires are so diverse in terms of their internal structure, rubber constituents, shape and design that it would even be possible to say that every tire is different. Each tire is made up of more than 100 kinds of materials, and can be regarded as a combination of high technologies or as a product of the latest chemical and engineering research.

Tire construction
Structure of the radial tire.
The cords forming the carcass are arranged perpendicularly to the centre line of the tread or in a radial direction from the centre of the circle.
Structure of the bias tire (cross-ply tire).
The cords forming the carcass are intersected at a diagonal (biased) angle of about 40° with respect to the tread centre line.
